Renault Set To Hike Car Prices In India — Get Your Kwids Now
French carmaker Renault is set to increase the prices of its entire model range in India to help combat rising input costs following the likes of Maruti-Suzuki and Hyundai.
However, the price hike is not expected to be severe, with hike said to be around 1-2 percent of the current cost of the vehicles on sale.
In an interview with PTI, when asked if his company planned to raise the prices. Renault India Operations Country CEO and MD Sumit Sawhney told PTI said, "Yes, we will be increasing the prices as input costs have gone up. We are currently evaluating the period as when to undertake the exercise."
Renault currently sells five vehicles in India - the Kwid and Pulse hatchbacks, the Lodgy MPV and the Duster SUV. Prices start at Rs. 2,64,734 for the bare basics Kwid and can go upto Rs. 13,77,855 for the top of the line Duster compact SUV.
Renault's upcoming hike follows similar price hikes by Korean carmaker Hyundai along with home-grown carmakers like Maruti Suzuki and Mahindra in the past few weeks. Another Indian carmaker, Tata Motors is also expected to hike prices in the near future.
