Renault To Power Red Bull & Toro Rosso Till 2017 Season
At the start of the 2016 Formula One Championship, Red Bull was not happy with their engine provider, Renault. They even decided to re-badge their current badge under the name of Tag-Heuer. Surprisingly, Red Bull has extended their contract with Renault in Formula One.
Not only Red Bull, even Toro Rosso Formula One team will be powered by Renault. The 2017 season will have a minimum of six Renault powered vehicles. Renault will also be allowing both teams to badge the engine according to their liking.
Currently, Toro Rosso is using the power unit from Scuderia Ferrari in Formula One. So far, they are not clearly happy with the development and performance of their sourced engines. During the 2014 and 2015 Formula One Championship, Toro Rosso made use of Renault powered engines.
Surprisingly, Renault factory Formula One team is not doing so well in the 2016 Championship. Red Bull, on the other hand, is competing with Mercedes and has successfully beat Ferrari on multiple occasions.
The French-based manufacturer will provide Red Bull and Toro Rosso with the latest power units. At this moment, they have secured a deal only till the 2017 Formula One season. It will be interesting to see how Red Bull, Toro Rosso, and Renault Racing perform with the 2017 changes.
