Renault-Nissan Shuts Down Chennai Plant
The Renault-Nissan factory at Oragadam near Chennai will remain closed for a week from May 22 to May 29, 2016.
Renault-Nissan Automotive India has stated that the plant will remain closed for the period of a week as part of the scheduled May maintainance.
Renault-Nissan released a statement about the shutdown stating, "Renault Nissan Automotive India will be closed for a week from May 22-29 2016 for planned annual maintenance", the company said in a statement. "The plant undergoes maintenance shut down twice a year to conduct repair and maintenance work in the months of May and December."
The Renault-Nissan Alliance has invested Rs. 45 billion into the plant which produces 4.8 lakh units a year. In January this year, the one millionth car rolled out from the production floor of the factory and a third shift was recently added at the plant to keep up with the demand for the Renault Kwid.
