Renault Kwid 1.0-Litre Launch Date Revealed
The Renault Kwid hatchback is the most successful vehicle from the French manufacturer to ever hit the streets of India. Despite targeting the same segment where the Maruti Suzuki Alto reigned supreme, there are over 70,000 Kwids on Indian roads today.
Now, Renault is planning to take on the Alto K10 with a 1.0-litre variant of the Kwid. According to Gaadiwaadi, Renault plans to launch Kwid 1.0-litre on August 23, 2016, with bookings set to start the same day on e-commerce site Paytm.com.
The Kwid 1.0-litre was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in February will be powered by a 999cc, three-cylinder petrol engine which will be available with both a manual and AMT gearbox.
Design wise nothing has changed when compared to the normal Kwid. However, the 1.0-litre Kwid at the Expo did sport a chequered flag design on the sides along with stickers pointing out the size of the new engine and the Easy-R AMT gearbox.
The new Renault Kwid 1.0-litre will be competing with the Maruti Suzuki Alto k10 which is priced between Rs. 3.25 lakh to Rs. 4.15 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi). We expect the new Kwid to be priced at around the same price bracket, though Renault could spice things up if it decided to undercut the Alto K10's pricing.
