Porsche Triumphs In Six Hours Of Circuit Of The Americas
The Porsche 919 of reigning champions Mark Webber, Brendon Hartley and Timo Bernhard registered their third victory in World Endurance Championship, at six hours of Circuit of the Americas.
Audi had lead the opening stages of the race, but after the sun went down, Audi's victory chances too faded with the daylight. Audi and Porsche locked themselves for the victory as the last two hours was remaining, an incident occurred and course was yellow flaged. As Audi had already made its pitstop, Porsche managed to stop under yellow flag and dramatically took the lead.
But the number seven Audi of Andre Lotterer, Marcel Fassler and Benoit Treluyer was hampered by another incident and went out of contention for victory. But the number eight Audi of Lucas di Grassi, Loic Duval and Oliver Jarvis managed to take runner-up spot.
The number six Toyota TS050 Hybrid driven by Stephane Sarrazin, Kamui Kobayashi and Mike Conway finished third behind the charging Audi. The number 13 Rebellion Racing R-One-AER piloted by Dominik Kraihamer and Alexandre Imperatori took victory in LMP1 Privateer class and leads the championship.
