Pirelli To Improve F1 Tyres Significantly During 2017 Season
Formula One officials will be allowing in-season tyre testing to Pirelli. This means Pirelli tyres will significantly improve throughout the year.
The 2017 Formula One season will be witnessing massive changes. One of the vital changes is the wider and lower profile tyres that Pirelli would have to develop. Several drivers have been criticising Pirelli tyres as they are not entirely happy with the tyres performance.
Now, Pirelli promises that their F1 tyres will improve significantly during the 2017 season. Formula One officials have finally allowed in-season tyre testing once again. For the last three years, in-season tyre testing has been banned owing to cost cutting measures.
At the 2016 Brazilian GP, drivers criticised that the Pirelli wet tyre was not as good as they expect it to be. Romain Grosjean, Kimi Raikkonen, Marcus Ericsson, and Jolyon Palmer all witnessed aquaplaning at the Interlagos circuit.
Formula One drivers and Pirelli will be capable of improving tyres during the season. Previously, Pirelli tyres were not allowed to test on current Formula One race machines. Officials believed that a team or driver would receive an unexpected advantage by the additional tests.
Surprisingly, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton thrived in the wet conditions. This proved that Pirelli tyres were working for some drivers and was not working for a few. It will be interesting to see how the 2017 Pirelli tyres work on the Formula One race machines.
