Ola taxi aggregator is working on a new technology solution to help its drivers find users location effortlessly. As of now, once the taxi is booked, the driver sees the geographical location on the map; however, the driver is not aware of a popular location the place is known and making it difficult to pinpoint the pickup location.
This difference leads to loss of time in finding out the exact location of the pickup. Ola is running a project to identify some of the popular "HotSpots" in major cities where most of the bookings take place. A team from Ola is going to such places and mapping them manually.
The idea behind this approach is to build a layer on top of Google maps which will identify the location name that will help the driver to find the pickup point easily and thus reduce the hassle for the users.
The taxi aggregator has identified 30 - 40 popular places and plans are to roll it out throughout the country based on the study. Also, the company is working on mapping huge compounds like airports and building societies, which will let the drivers know the entry and exit gates.
With this, the users can pinpoint the exact location of the pickup either the entry or the exit gate, this will help both the driver and the user to reduce the wait time.
