To avoid illegal plying of older vehicles in Noida, Ghaziabad and other NCR regions, the state government has restricted the number of districts that can issue fresh NOC's to such vehicles.
As per the current rules, only 37 districts in central and eastern Uttar Pradesh can issue NOC's to older vehicles. Earlier anybody would get an NOC for old vehicles around NCR region.
Although six districts from western Uttar Pradesh - Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Pilibhit, Mainpuri, Hathras, Kasganj and Etah can issue no objection certificates.
But according to road transport officials if a old vehicle takes NOC from for example, Badaun the vehicle will be caught in Noida.
According to the rules, if a ten year old diesel vehicle or 15 year old petrol vehicle applies for a re-registration, the transport department issue an NOC instead of a registration certificate.
An NOC can be obtained for a particular region only. Rachna Yaduvanshi, ARTO said, "As per the NGT directions, no petrol vehicle older than 15 years and diesel vehicle older than 10 years shall be registered. However, an NOC was being issued to them."
