Nissan & Datsun Will Be Launching Crossover Models In India
Nissan and Datsun have a limited number of automobiles on offer in the Indian market. Now, the Japanese-based manufacturers plan on entering the crossover segment. Both automobile makers will be launching two very different and unique models for Indian customers.
Datsun had showcased its upcoming crossover in a concept form at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. The GoCross concept will soon be entering production at Datsun's Indian facility. This will take the total portfolio range of Datsun India up to four models, including the GoCross.
Kicks from Nissan will also be launched in the Indian market. The Nissan Kicks is a premium crossover which will be made available by Nissan in over 40 countries. We expect the Nissan Kicks to be launched in India sometime during 2017.
Both, the Datsun GoCross and Nissan Kicks will be offered with locally assembled engines. There is a high possibility that the existing engines could be used in both crossover models. Initially, Nissan and Datsun will offer only manual transmissions in their crossovers.
The Indian automobile market is huge and Nissan and Datsun plan on capturing five percent of this market by 2020. New products from Nissan and Datsun will boost overall sales in the Indian market.
