Renault F1 Team Offers Nico Hulkenberg A Two-Year Deal
Nico Hulkenberg has all of a sudden become the hottest property in Formula One Championship. The Force India driver is has received a formal contract from Renault F1 Team. Hulkenberg can accept his new contract only when his current team lets go of him.
Renault F1 Team has offered Hulkenberg with a contract for 2017 and 2018. Hulkenberg has an option for an extension till 2019 season as well. This will be the very first time that Nico Hulkenberg will be part of a factory outfit in Formula One.
Force India officials have clearly stated that they would not be a hurdle in case Hulkenberg wants to jump ship. Recently, Force India extended Sergio Perez's contract for at least two more years. They do not seem keen to retain Hulkenberg as they did with Perez.
Hulkenberg joining Renault F1 Team means that one seat would be occupied. It is still undecided whether Renault would retain either Kevin Magnussen or Jolyon Palmer. There are rumors that Valtteri Bottas of Williams has commenced talks with Renault as 'Plan B' option.
Mercedes seem keen to get Esteban Ocon into their powered race machines. There is a chance that Ocon could join Force India as Hulkenberg's replacement. Currently, Esteban Ocon is competing in F1 with Manor Racing and would be interesting to see his future plans.
