Renault F1 Team Trying To Get Nico Hulkenberg Onboard For 2017
Renault F1 Team had made its intention loud and clear that they wanted Sergio Perez in their driver seat. Perez, however, has extended his deal with Force India on the eve of the 2016 Japanese GP. As of now, Renault still has not decided their driver line-up for 2017 season.
Now, according to various reports Renault could sweep in for Nico Hulkenberg. So far, Force India and Hulkenberg seem to be on good terms and are likely to retain him for another year. However, Hulkenberg has now admitted that he too is in talks with Renault for 2017 seat.
Force India has also only confirmed Sergio Perez for 2017 and no details on Nico Hulkenberg's future has been revealed. Hulkenberg would like to join Renault F1 Team as that would put him in a Factory-run team, which has more potential than a sister/satellite team.
Previously, Renault F1 Team planned on acquiring Valtteri Bottas as one of their drivers. It is unlikely that Williams Racing would let go of Bottas easily. The French-based manufacturer also is keen to have a countryman in their project and Esteban Ocon is most likely to fill this role.
There are also rumours that Force India is likely to bring in Pascal Wehrlein into the team. Formula One silly season is far from over and we expect several twists and turns ahead. Stay tuned for more details and reports surrounding Force India, Renault, and driver contracts.
