Next Range Rover To Be SUV Coupe Crossover, Will Rival BMW X6
The next new Range Rover model that will roll of the Land Rover factory in Solhull is expected to be SUV Coupe crossover.
According to Autocar UK, the upcoming SUV, codenamed L560, could be called the Range Rover Sport Coupe when it hits the roads in next year.
The L560 will share the Jaguar F-Pace's alloy chassis and is expected to be 5-seat SUV in its biggest seating configuration as the F-Pace's chassis is apparently unable to be stretched to fit the full blown 5+2 configutation.
Design wise, the Sport Coupe is expected to take a few more cues from the F-pace with a long sloping bonnet empasizing the sporty character of the new SUV.
The new SUV is expected to dip into Jaguar-Land Rover's array of four and six cylinder engines, though a hybrid powertrain seems to be the most likely outcome. A SVR version could end up using the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 found in the F-Type R. Land Rover's first all electric vehicle could also be based on the new SUV.
When it hits the roads next year, the new Range Rover is expected to take on the BMW X6 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE.
