Nissan Will Not Manufacture The Next-Gen Micra Hatchback In India
The next-gen Nissan Micra will be unveiled to the general public at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. Nissan's all-new Micra will utilise Renault Clio's base, which uses the CMF-B platform. The all-new hatchback from Nissan will break cover sometime during September in the form of teasers.
The next-gen Nissan Micra will be manufactured at the Flins Renault facility in Paris, France. In terms of design, the all-new Micra will be heavily inspired by the Sway concept. Nissan showcased its Sway concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
Reports now suggest that the Japanese-based manufacturer will move Micra production. The next-gen Nissan Micra will not be 'Made in India' at Renault-Nissan alliance facility at Oragadam, Chennai. The all-new Micra will also not be coming to Indian shores anytime soon.
Since the next-gen Nissan Micra will not be coming to Indian shores, an update can be expected. The overall shape and bodywork of Micra hatchback will be redesigned by Nissan India. The cabin interiors will also be updated to keep its offering on par with competitors.
During June 2016, Nissan India managed to sell only 554 units of the Micra. Competitors fared rather well with Maruti Suzuki Swift generating 9,033 units sold and Hyundai Grand i10 selling 12,678 units. Poor sales is another reason why Nissan India would not be bringing next-gen Micra to the country.
