Hyundai To Launch Next-Gen Santro In Global Markets By 2018
Next-Gen Santro hatchback is rumoured to be under development by Hyundai Motors. All-new Santro is expected to launch in the global markets by 2018. Hyundai Motors are currently calling this model 'AH', which is its codename.
All-new Hyundai Santro is most likely to be manufactured in India and exported to international markets. Currently, Hyundai Motors is the second largest automobile manufacturer in India. In terms of volume, they are number one exporter from the country.
Main reason for Hyundai reviving Santro moniker is to compete with all-new entry level products. Renault Kwid, Datsun redi-GO, and Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 have created a huge disruption in the Indian market. Hyundai's next-gen Santro is aimed at taking on these small cars.
Just like its rivals, Hyundai's next-gen Santro is most likely to be powered by an 800cc in-line three-cylinder petrol engine. Hyundai could also source the engine from its EON model to keep costs in check. Initially, only a manual transmission would be offered in the next-gen Santro.
There are rumours that Hyundai has already developed a prototype for testing at its South Korean headquarters. Stay tuned for more updates and information regarding new product launches from Hyundai and other automobile manufacturers.
