Here's Your Official First Look At The 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback
The Honda Civic hatchback was first showcased as a concept at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. With an exterior slightly changed from that of the concept, the 2017 Honda Civic hatchback will join line-up as a third body style.
The 2017 Honda Civic will be the first ever five-door Civic hatchback to be sold in the U.S. Thre arrival of the new hatchback also hints a sportier Civic Type-R model down the road.
It was teased by some of the photos recently released online, showing the cars being loaded on a ship for transport the to U.S.
The styling largely resembles that of the other two Civic variants, incorporating a fairly slanted roofline and Honda's new corporate grille.
The Civic hatchback will be offered in LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Sport Touring variants, all of which come with Honda's 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine borrowed from the Civic coupe and sedan. The Civic hatchback will be available with six-speed manual or CVT automatic transmissions.
In the LX, EX, and EX-L models, the engine makes 174bhp and 162nm of peak torque. The Sport and Sport Touring models will get the same engine with 180bhp, and 162nm engine, thanks to the free-flow center-exit exhaust.
Honda also confirmed that the Civic hatchback would be the platform for the next Type-R. Rumour has it the next Civic Type-R will be capable of producing 340bhp.
