New Volkswagen Passat Caught Testing In India Ahead Of 2017 Launch
An all-new Passat premium sedan has been caught testing on Indian roads. Volkswagen is most likely to launch new Passat in India during 2017. The new Volkswagen Passat was seen adorning little to no camouflage material.
Volkswagen India had showcased its Passat GTE model at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. The GTE is a plug-in hybrid option from Volkswagen, which would also be offered to Indian buyers. Initially, 2017-edition of Passat will be available in India with traditional engine options.
Under the hood, new Passat features a 2.0-litre diesel engine, mated to an automatic transmission. Volkswagen is not keen on introducing a petrol-powered Passat in India initially. Based on the response at the time of launch they could soon offer petrol engines.
New Passat will be built upon Volkswagen's MQB platform. Designers have taken inspiration from the entire VW lineup for a sporty, athletic, yet premium looking sedan. Volkswagen's new Passat looks more appealing and now has the potential to stand out amongst premium sedans.
The premium sedan will feature all-new LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lights), headlights, and foglamps. Redesigned grille and muscular looking front and rear bumpers have been adopted for 2017. Chrome will be used to highlight the window line and exhaust tip, thus maintaining the vehicles premium design language.
