Busworld India 2016: MG Group Unveils Columbus Tarmac Bus, Launches Mammoth Luxury Bus In India
To celebrate the production of 100,000 buses over 20 years, the MG Group has unveiled the Columbus Tarmac Bus at Busworld India 2016.
MG Group, one of India's largest bus builders has unveiled the its first special application coach called the 'Columbus' at Busworld India 2016 in Bangalore.
The Columbus was unveiled as part of the MG Group's celebration of the milestone of having produced 100,000 buses in 20 years of bus building. The MG Group also launched the Mammoth luxury coach in India.
The Columbus has been made for use at airports to transport passengers between the airport buildings and the aircraft itself and is currently being developed for international markets.
The 12-metre long Columbus offers room for 70 passengers (8 seated and 62 standing). The tarmac coach has a flat floor which sits just 290mm above the ground which combined with the five doors (2 on the left, two on the right) allows for swift passenger entry and exit.
The MG Group also launched its flagship luxury coach ‘Mammoth' for the Indian market. The Mammoth was unveiled at Busworld India 2015 in Mumbai.
The Mammoth will be available in four different variants in India with prices ranging from Rs. 60 - 65 lakh.
Built on the state-of-the-art MAN chassis, and certified by MAN Germany, the Mammoth caters to the Indian operating conditions with increased driving safety, while significantly reducing body movement for ride comfort.
The Mammoth is also extremely safe with a total of eight emergency exits, the bus also includes various safety measures such as no sharp corners, seat belts for every passenger and the EM - Secure rear exit, a world first.
