Mercedes Working On A Sub-Brand For Zero-Emission Models
Mercedes-Benz is focussing on developing new models for future markets. The German luxury car manufacturer realises that future mobility solutions will have to be zero emission models. There is a possibility that the new models will be introduced as a sub-brand.
The German luxury car manufacturer promises that by 2016-end they will be offering customers three electric and two smart car options. Mercedes-Benz also confirms that by 2017-end their very first fuel cell powered vehicle will be introduced based on their GLC model.
Majority of their focus and investment will be diverted to introducing zero emission vehicles. The introduction of a Mercedes sub-brand is not their primary focus. The sub-brand will be somewhat similar to what BMW has created with their 'i' division for global markets.
By 2017, Mercedes-Benz plans to offer the widest range of plug-in hybrid models by a luxury car manufacturer. In all, they plan to offer ten models based on various platforms for customer choice. So far, not all upcoming models have been revealed and we will have to wait for them.
