Mercedes In No Hurry To Sign Nico Rosberg’s F1 Replacement
Mercedes AMG confirms they are in no hurry to announce Nico Rosberg’s replacement for 2017 Championship. Surprisingly, three former Formula One Champions are top contenders for the Mercedes seat.
Nico Rosberg surprised the entire world with his surprise announcement at the Formula One award ceremony. The 2016 Formula One Champion announced his retirement from the sport. Now, the main question on everyone's mind is who will take Rosberg's seat at Mercedes.
Mercedes-AMG has confirmed that they are in no hurry to find Nico Rosberg's replacement. Lewis Hamilton has also affirmed that he would be in no way involved in the selection procedure. Team officials confirm that finding Rosberg's replacement will be a tough task.
Surprisingly, three former Formula One Champions are top contenders for the Mercedes seat. Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso, and Sebastian Vettel are top contenders. Unfortunately, all three drivers are bound by contract and it would be difficult to get out of existing deals.
Manor Racing's, Pascal Wehrlein is out of contract for 2017 Formula One Championship. Wehrlein is most likely to join Mercedes-AMG as he could easily fit into the role of a second driver. His lack of experience in the Formula One could play an important role in his selection.
There is no doubt that Mercedes-AMG is a Championship winning machine. All drivers will be extremely keen to win a seat alongside Lewis Hamilton. Rosberg's retirement has provided a huge talking point during the off-season period and his replacement will have huge boots to fill.
