Mercedes-Benz has launched the GLS 400 4MATIC in India for Rs. 82.90 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi). This is the company's eighth launch in India during 2016, and with it, Mercedes completes its petrol portfolio for the country. Now, customers can choose between a petrol or diesel powered GLS.
Powering the GLS 400 4MATIC is a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine from Mercedes-Benz. This engine produces 333bhp, along with 480Nm of peak torque. Mercedes has mated the engine of the GLS 400 to a 9G-TRONIC gearbox for ease of driving.
The GLS 400 4MATIC gets Dynamic Select with five modes: Comfort, Sport, Slippery, Individual, and Off-road. Mercedes-Benz will equip the GLS 400 with AIRMATIC suspension and Adaptive Dampening System Plus. A new gen telematic system will also be adopted in the GLS 400.
In terms of safety, Mercedes has equipped the GLS 400 with the standard PRE-SAFE system. Brake Assist, electronic all-wheel drive traction system 4ETS, ESP with Curve Dynamic Assist and cruise control will be standard. Several other ingenious additions have also been adopted.
Only two colour options have been provided to the Mercedes GLS 400: Polar White and Obsidian Black. Currently, the GLS 400 is offered as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), however, local production is expected to commence by 2016-end at Chakan.
