Mercedes-Benz S500 Model Discontinued In Indian Market
Mercedes-Benz has an extensive portfolio of luxury vehicles in the Indian market. Now the German manufacturer seems to have discontinued its S500 model in India. The Mercedes S500 model costs an impressive Rs. 1.70 crore ex-showroom (Delhi).
The Maybach S500 premium model costs an additional Rs. 10 to 15 lakh over regular S500 model. The German-based manufacturer will continue selling the Maybach S500 in India. It is unclear as to why Mercedes-Benz has discontinued its S500 in India.
Powering the Mercedes S500 was a 4,663cc, V8 petrol engine with a variable geometry turbocharger. The engine produces 459bhp, along with 700Nm of torque and a 7-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Power is fed to the rear wheels of Mercedes S500.
Recently, Mercedes-Benz launched the S400 model in the Indian market. The S400 is priced at Rs. 1.31 crore ex-showroom (Delhi) and will be a popular choice among buyers who were planning to buy the S500 model. Customers can also opt for the Maybach S500 which will be cost significantly higher.
In terms of interiors and creature comforts all S-Class models are top-notch. Mercedes-Benz S-Class is their top of the line luxury portfolio, which is offered in India as well as in several other international markets. Several of the S-Class models are locally assembled in India to keep costs in check.
