Mercedes-Benz Zooms Past Its German Rival In Global Car Sales
The global sales of the luxury cars is getting tighter for the top three manufacturers in the world. In the first seven months, Mercedes-Benz has posted sales of 1.17 million vehicles globally, a clear 12 percent compared to the previous year.
This has made Mercedes-Benz the most popular luxury car brand in the world as it has overtaken BMW, which posted sales of 1.139 million units, a 5.6 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Audi sits in the third spot with sales of 1.1 million units, a 5.2 percent change compared to the previous year. Mercedes success comes from the BMW X3 rivalling GLC mid-size SUV and the new C- and E- Class models.
BMW has been the top luxury car manufacturer for nearly a decade, Mercedes-Benz has done extremely well by positioning and revamping its range of products in its portfolio.
BMW is yet to launch its revamped 5-series, whereas Mercedes has launched the E-Class which has put it ahead of its rivals.
Working with partners like Intel and Mobileye, BMW will work on its autonomous car to be launched by 2021.
