Mercedes-Benz Is About To Outpace BMW In A Big Way
In the battle German carmakers Mercedes-Benz is about to overtake BMW in a big way. BMW's crown of number one luxury car seller may finally be dethroned.
For successive ten years, BMW has been the world's number one premium car manufacturer. But Mercedes-Benz is catching up fast to take the crown from its German business rival.
According to a statement released by the company, Mercedes-Benz sold 1.54 million cars in the first nine months of the year.
Whereas BMW sold 1.48 million cars in the same period. The margin may not be that big, but Mercedes have been outpacing BMW in every quarter this year.
Mercedes have achieved this figures by virtue of its new crossover and SUV models and also its E-Class sedan. BMW also revealed the 2017 5 Series model which should help the firm to get back on track next year.
Back in 2012 Mercedes head, Dieter Zetsche stated that the company will become the number one car manufacturer by overtaking BMW and Audi by end of this decade.
But looking at the rate of pace Mercedes is growing the company is way ahead of its schedule. Zetsche said, "We have set for ourselves a target five years ago... to become the number one car premium manufacturer."
He added, "That was supposed to be reached in 2020, but it seems that we are awful close already." BMW will not like to stay in second place for a long time, so next year BMW is expected to come up with strategies to regain the position.
