Mercedes-Benz Leads The Pack On Luxury Car Global Sales
The global sales for the month for August 2016 on luxury cars have been announced by the car manufacturers. Mercedes-Benz leads the pack with sales of 1.56 lakh units globally and witnessed an 11.8 percent increase compared to August 2015.
Coming second and going past Audi is BMW, the German car manufacturer sold 1.45 lakh units and registered a 5 percent growth in sales. As for Audi, the company sold 1.32 lakh units and saw an overall growth of 3 percent.
Audi's weaker sales came from markets like South America, Eastern Europe, and Middle-East which led to slipping its position to BMW. However, its individual country sales were impressive with sales growth of 8.8 percent in China, 13.2 percent in the UK and a solid 23.3 percent in Spain.
For Mercedes-Benz the impressive sales were contributed by the new E-Class, the company sold nearly 17,000 E-Class Saloon and Estate in August 2016. As for BMW, its X range of vehicles has been performing for the automaker. The introduction of X1 worldwide has spiked the sales with 16,612 units for the entire range of X.
The notable mention is the sales of Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover which has been upbeat with the sales of the F-Pace SUV and the new XF sedan. With the impressive sales, Jaguar could be seeing the numbers going up.
