Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Recalled For Driveshaft Issues
Seems like with the more cars you sell, the more likely you are to recall some of them. Mercedes is recalling the AMG GT S models and has also issued a stop sale notice. Mercedes will recall 135 units as well.
The reason for the recall is due to the driveshaft, which due to improper cleaning method, has a chance to come off. That is not a very good thing to happen to a car that is focused on performance.
Till date, no injuries have been reported and the ones that are being recalled have been manufactured between June 1 and July 24, 2015. If your car falls under this time frame, Mercedes will get in touch with the car owner.
The Mercedes AMG GT S features a carbon fibre driveshaft. The improper cleaning method of the carbon fibre could cause the adhesive that holds the shaft and the gearbox flange to separate, which will cut power to the rear wheels.
