Mercedes Teases New Roadster – Time For Some Drop Top AMG Fun?
German carmaker Mercedes-Benz has dropped a brand new video, teasing an upcoming roadster from it in-house hooligans at AMG. The video gives only a brief glimpse at the profile of the car which will be called the AMG GT C.
The new AMG GT C roadster will use a folding fabric roof instead of the hardtop found on the current SL and SLC roadsters.
This will help AMG save on weight and cut down the complexity of the roof mechanism. The use of the fabric roof will also help AMG keep the costs down.
The AMG GT C Roadster was revealed in leaked documents in July, which showed off the German carmaker's plans for 2017. The leaked documents also revealed that the GT C Roadster would be getting a coupe variant in 2017.
The AMG GT C will be powered by the same twin turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine found in the other AMG GT variants. However, power and torque figures are expected be similar to the GT and GT S variants rather than the levels found under the hood of the manic AMG GT R, which was unveiled in June.
The new AMG GT C will be unveiled later this year and will go on sale in 2017 along with the hardcore AMG GT R.
