McLaren-Honda Appoint VW Director Of Motorsport As CEO
McLaren-Honda has appointed an all-new racing Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Previously, Jonathan Neale held the post of racing CEO and will take up the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) of McLaren Technology Group.
The new racing Chief Executive Officer at McLaren-Honda is Jost Capito, Volkswagen Director of Motorsport. Jost Capito will be reporting directly to McLaren-Honda Chairman, Ron Dennis. The joining date has not been confirmed yet and will be decided by Volkswagen and McLaren officials.
Jonathan Neale and Jost Capito will be working closely with Eric Boullier, Racing Director. McLaren Honda experienced its worst season ever in Formula One. The changes been made are an attempt to improve their 2016 Championship hopes.
Currently, McLaren-Honda has Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso behind the wheel. The duo has vast experience between both of them and are confident of a better season. Both drivers are working relentlessly to solve power issues encountered during the 2015 season.
Engineers at McLaren-Honda are confident on gaining two seconds with a few changes. Button and Alonso are keen to be fighting with the top runners. McLaren has paid huge sums of money to have both drivers race for them and are confident with a better race package, they will be highly competitive against Ferrari and Mercedes.
