Maserati Recalls Over 28,00 Cars To Replace Floor Mats
Maserati is recalling over 28,000 sedans from their Ghilbi and Quattroporte ranges to replace the driver side floor mats.
The recall affects 28,235 Ghilbi and Quattroporte sedans that were made between February 1, 2013, and November 30, 2015.
The floor mat issue occurs if the anchor securing the driver's side floor mat to the floor of the car comes loose leading to the mat bunching up underneath the pedal which in turn can cause the accelerator pedal to get stuck.
No deaths or injuries have occured due to the problem but 4 incidents of the floor mat enforced accelration have been reported.
Maserati will replace the driver side floor mat and possibly the the accelerator pedal cover of the affected cars, free of charge. Maserati is expected to start the recall on April 29, 2016.
