Ghibli & Quattroporte By Maserati Recalled Over Shifter issue
Maserati will be recalling its Ghibli and Quattroporte models. Both models were manufactured during 2014 and a total of 13,092 units are affected by the recall. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has identified the issue with Maserati vehicles.
The issue lies with the gear shifter system in the Ghibli and Quattroporte. Owners putting the gear shifter in Park could be faulty as the vehicle engages reverse gear. There is a possibility that the vehicle could roll out of its parking and be damaged.
So far, several reports on this issue have been registered. It is estimated that approximately 41 individuals have been injured owing the gear shifter issue in Maserati vehicles. A software update is required to be carried out by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
ZF 8-speed Automatic Transmission from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has the shifter issue. So far, the company has recalled 11 lakh units worldwide. Maserati India confirms that the Ghibli and Quattroporte sold in the country are unaffected by the recall.
