Maruti Suzuki launched the Vitara Brezza with a lot of hype and every little bit has paid off. The Brezza was a good product and sales figures proved it. During March 2016, Maruti sold 5,563 units of the Brezza.
The compact SUV segment was kickstarted in India by Ford with the EcoSport model. When launched, it was the only vehicle in its segment, and it gained a lot of sales. Customers had to wait for long durations after booking the EcoSport.
Looking at the success, other carmakers were quick to follow the design, and Maruti, with its huge fan following perfected the recipe of a compact SUV in the form of the Vitara Brezza. The Brezza even managed to outsell the EcoSport by over a thousand units in March.
To heat eventually got to Ford, and as soon as the Vitara Brezza was launched at Rs. 6.99 lakh, the American carmaker dropped the prices of the EcoSport by over Rs. 1 lakh. Another capable competitor in this sub-4 meter segment is the Mahindra TUV300, which created a lot of interest when it was launched.
With the battle getting intense in the compact SUV segment, Hyundai is to soon join the league with a sub-4 meter SUV which is in the pipeline. Until then, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza leads the market with the top end variant demanding up to 5 months waiting.
