Maruti Suzuki To Produce Two Next-Gen Models At The New Gujarat Plant
Suzuki’s new manufacturing plant in Gujarat will be operational by 2017 and next-gen Swift and Swift DZire will be manufactured
Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC), the parent company of Maruti Suzuki recently invested $970 million on the second production line at the Gujarat plant and has plans to produce other new models as well.
The new plant in Gujarat will produce the Baleno which will be shipped to countries such as Japan and Europe. Now, as per reports, the Japanese company will manufacture the next-generation Swift and Swift DZire at this plant.
Currently, Maruti Suzuki produces 15 lakh cars from its two Haryana plants. The Gujarat plant will add another 15 lakh units to the company.
SMC is planning to churn out 250,000 from each of the six production lines from the Gujarat plant.
The next-generation Swift hatchback and the compact sedan Swift DZire will be launched by Maruti by early 2017 in India.
The company is testing the hatchback in some of the foreign countries, recently the Swift DZire was caught testing in India.
Maruti Suzuki has been witnessing adownward trend in the sales of the Swift hatchback due to severe competition and the new version will hope to refresh the model.
The next-generation Swift hatchback and the Swift DZire are stylish with sharper lines and sportier look. Both the cars werespied testing features a large hexagonal front grille and air intakes.
New features such as projector headlamps and daytime running lights seen in the Baleno will be seen in the new Swift twins. On the interiors as well there will be a new dashboard and a flat-bottomed steering wheel.
On the engine specifications, the new generation Swift twins might get the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel mills of the current generation models. Also, expected is the Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (SHVS) technology on the next-generation models.
