Maruti Suzuki S-Cross To Get Brand New Petrol Engine
Maruti Suzuki are planning to offer its S-Cross crossover with a 1.5-litre petrol engine.
Maruti is bringing the new engine to India in response to increasingly stifling environmental regulations for diesel engines in the country.
The engine codenamed M15A is already in use in other countries and is a four-cylinder engine with variable valve timing. The M15A displaces 1,490cc and produces 100hp @5,500rpm and 133Nm of torque @ 4,100rpm.
The new engine will be offered alongside the 1.3-litre and 1.6-litre diesel engines. While the 1.3-litre variant is doing well, the 1.6-litre variant is currently sluggish with regards to sales and Maruti is currently only offering it on made-to-order basis.
Maruti may also launch the new engine variant of the S-Cross alongside a new optional 4-speed automatic gearbox.
The new M15A engine is also expected to replace the 1.4-litre petrol engine found under the hood of its Ciaz Sedan as well.
