Suzuki Motor Corp To Start An Industrial Training Institute In Gujarat
“In the course of promotion of the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Skill India’, we are greatly honored that we can participate in this project as a Japanese firm.”

has
announced
that
the
company
will
start
an
industrial
training
institute
in
Gujarat.
This
institute
is
to
cooperate
on
the
human
resource
development
in
the
manufacturing
sector
in
India.
The institute is coming to India as a part of ‘Manufacturing Skill Transfer Promotion Programme' agreed between the governments of India and Japan on November 11, 2016.
The training institute is called ‘Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing' (JIM) and it is expected to start in August 2017 in Mehsana district in Gujarat state.
The institute will offer seven technical courses: fitter, electrician, mechanic diesel, motor mechanic vehicle, mechanic auto body repair, mechanic auto body paint repair, and welder. Each course will be trained for a one to two year period.
It is expected that , by 2018, around 300 students will graduate from the JIM. The institute will be established and run by Maruti Suzuki India Limited.
Osamu Suzuki, Chairman of Suzuki Motor Corporation said, "In the course of promotion of the Indian government's ‘Make in India' and ‘Skill India', we are greatly honored that we can participate in this project as a Japanese firm.
"Through the Japanese-style manufacturing, we hope to cooperate with the human resource development in India and to contribute to the development of manufacturing industry in India."
