Maruti Suzuki Ignis To Come With A CVT And Not AMT?
The next vehicle Maruti Suzuki has in mind to launch in India is the Maruti Suzuki Ignis. The compact crossover will compete in a segment that has one vehicle only, the Mahindra KUV100. The KUV has sold good numbers and Mahindra is quite impressed.

The Ignis will be available with the same engine options as the Swift hatchback, but the gearbox that Maruti would provide was under question. Maruti seems to have answered that question, because sources say that the Ignis will be offered with a Continuously Varying Transmission (CVT) instead of an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).
The CVT could most probably be offered with the petrol variant since it will be make the car more fuel efficient. The other option will be a 5-speed manual gearbox.

A for the engine options, the Ignis will be available with the 1.2-litre petrol engine and the 1.3-litre diesel engine. Maruti could retune the engine to suit the Ignis' tall stance. The Maruti Ignis is expected to be launched by the end of this year and could be priced around Rs. 4.5 lakh onward.
