With many rumors doing the rounds about deferring the launch of the Maruti Ignis, the company has confirmed that the launch of its first compact sub-four-metre car will be launched as per schedule.
The festive period in the country is the most revered time to buy new vehicles and Maruti will offer the Ignis to the customers. The festive period which is during October and November witnesses high percentage of sales in the country.
During the 2016 Auto Expo held in Delhi, Maruti showcased the company's first sub-four-metre crossover along with the Baleno RS, which is slated for launch during the festival period as well.
Both the Ignis and the Baleno RS will be sold through its premium Nexa showrooms in the country. While the Ignis will be launched in India during the festive period, it will be showcased at the Paris Motor Show as well.
As for the details of the Maruti Ignis, the crossover was showcased as a concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
With characteristics of an SUV, like the high ground clearance, side plastic body cladding, plastic-clad wheel arches and good view from the driver point of view makes up the overview of the Ignis.
The Maruti Ignis is featured with projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights. The Japan-spec Ignis comes with four-wheel drive (4WD) system, hill descent control, Suzuki's adaptive Dual Camera Braking System (DCBS), lane management system, also seen are the rear and side camera for parking.
Maruti will power the Ignis with 1.0-litre Booster Jet petrol engine and will be mated to a 5-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. Prices are expected to be Rs. 5 - 6 lakh for the Maruti Ignis.
