Key information was revealed before the formal launch are a, 1242cc, 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 90bhp of power and 118Nm of torque. The diesel variant could come with the Fiat's 1.3 litre engine. The Japanese customer gets the option of 4WD, we need to see if this will be on offer in India. More than 50 percent will be made from high-strength steel.
The dimensions are 3,700 mm in length, 1,660 mm in width, 1,595 mm in height, and ground clearance of 180mm. When compared to its segment rival, Mahindra's KUV100, the length is longer. This could mean roomier cabin and could borrow the interiors from the Swift. Maruti might sell the Ignis through it's NEXA showroom. On the styling front, it has an appeal to the younger generation and might come with a CVT. This could be assisted with an electric motor churning about 3bhp and 50Nm torque, this will be a first in the Indian market, if offered.
For the Japanese customers, Ignis has the option of 4WD with hill descent control and grip in the downhill, and snow or slippery road driving assistance. As for the seating, it will come with a 50:50 split, adjustable rear seats, including sliding and reclining features. The infotainment will include the Apple CarPlay support, navigation, heated front seats, dual-camera brake support, lane departure alert, front and side airbags, and cruise control. Maruti Suzuki will be showcasing the Ignis at the coming Delhi Auto Show 2016.
