Spied: Maruti Suzuki Ignis Caught Testing
Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be launching in early 2017 in India. The production ready Ignis was spied testing in Delhi.
The Maruti Suzuki Ignis was last showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. It was speculated that the crossover would be launched before the festive season.
But due to long waiting periods for the Baleno and Vitara Brezza made it difficult to squeeze in the production of the Ignis crossover model.
According to reports, Ignis will be launched in India by early 2017. Which means the crossover from Maruti Suzuki will hit the Indian market around February 2017.
Now the Ignis is going through its final phase of testing and it was spied on the roads of Delhi. The camouflaged model appears to be production ready.
Taking a closer look at the spy shots the Ignis retains the silhouette seen at the Auto Expo. The crossover has a pretty high ground clearance.
The car in the spy pics was equipped with steel wheels and alloy wheels at the front, with a new multi-spoke design in dark shade.
The interior of the Ignis is expected to be similar to the Baleno but housed in a different looking dashboard. It will feature touchscreen infotainment system with navigation.
The Ignis is likely to be powered by 1-litre Boosterjet three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which produces around 110bhp. It is not yet confirmed whether the diesel variant of the Ignis will be offered at the time of launch.
The transmission department will be handled by either a five-speed manual, AMT or the CVT gearbox. It will be interesting to see what kind of gearbox will be offered with the Ignis.
Maruti Suzuki Ignis is likely to come with safety features such as - ABS with EBD and front dual airbags. The Ignis is expected to carry a price tag of around Rs 4.9 to Rs 7.25 lakh.
