Maruti Suzuki Gujarat Plant To Accelerate Capacity Expansion

Maruti Suzuki is one of the most popular automobile brands in the Indian market. New products from Maruti Suzuki have further boosted sales across India. To cater to rising demands, an all-new production facility will commence duties by early 2017 in Gujarat.

Initially, Maruti Suzuki's Gujarat facility will have a production capacity of 2.5 lakh units. Now, Maruti Suzuki is already planning of accelerating production by working on a second phase. The second phase will double production and is expected to commence as early as 2019.

Maruti Suzuki plans on manufacturing 20 lakh units per annum by 2020. This has been the company's goal for a while now. Additional capacity will be required to achieve these targets and expansion of manufacturing units is the key towards the goal.

Currently, the Vitara Brezza compact SUV and the Baleno premium hatchback are in huge demand. Both models from Maruti Suzuki command high waiting periods pan India. The first phase of Maruti Suzuki's Gujarat facility is expected to lower waiting periods.
