Air pollution is a major concern for all automobile manufacturers in India as well as in international markets. Even Formula One has downsized its engine to push manufacturer's to develop more efficient yet high on performance engines.
Maruti Suzuki has now confirmed that they will reduce CO2 emissions from their upcoming models. The Japanese-based manufacturer plans on making models greener within the next five years by 11.6 percent. Several of Maruti Suzuki's future technologies were showcased at 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
Currently, Maruti Suzuki has already taken a step into the future in the Indian market. The SHVS (Suzuki Hybrid Vehicle System) mild hybrid system was introduced on the Ciaz and Ertiga models. We expect more models from Maruti Suzuki to feature the SHVS in the near future.
The Japanese-based automobile manufacturer has developed a direct-injection turbo petrol engine, which it calls the BOOSTERJET engine. Suzuki engineers are also working on developing a lightweight and downsized engine for future models.
Maruti Suzuki also plans on reducing its emissions at the production level. Use of solar energy will play an important role in the generation of electricity for the facility. More models are expected to be equipped with dual fuel options of petrol and CNG.
