Make In India: Maruti Suzuki Baleno To Be Launched In The UK On June 1

A proud moment for the Maruti Suzuki team in launching the Baleno in the UK on June 1 and formally enter the UK automobile market.

The Suzuki Baleno will be of different specs for the UK customers, the hatchback will come in two variants - SZT and SZ5. The UK customers will get the Booster Jet engine which will power the Baleno. The turbocharged petrol engine will punch out 109bhp and 170Nm of torque which will be mated to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno will also get the 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine with SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle System) which can give a mileage of 24.99kmpl. The SHVS is a micro-hybrid system which uses lithium batteries to power the hatchback and does not depend on petrol to do the job, this way the Baleno will perform better in terms of fuel efficiency.

In India, Maruti Suzuki offers the SVHS technology in the Ciaz and Ertiga models, this is mainly to achieve better fuel efficiency.

Apart from this, the Suzuki Baleno will come with HID Headlamps, 16" Alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, satellite navigation, LED rear lights, adaptive cruise control, and a 4.2" central color display, also the Baleno will receive the radar brake support.

The Suzuki Baleno will be launched with the price tag of £12,999 to £15,349 (Rs. 12.8 to 15.11 lakhs). In the UK, the Suzuki Baleno will rival the Volkswagen Polo and Ford Fiesta, the Baleno will be Suzuki's first lightweight platform for its European market.
