Potential Uber Drivers To Receive Training From Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki has taken on an interesting initiative, in regards to commercial drivers. Uber and Maruti Suzuki have signed a MoU to train drivers across the country. RS Kalsi, Executive Director of Sales and Marketing made this announcement public.
Over 30,000 Uber partner drivers and individuals will be provided training by Maruti Suzuki. Commercial drivers will be provided with micro-entrepreneurship opportunities. The will be provided with skills that are necessary to handle/operate on Uber platform.
Initially, Maruti Suzuki and Uber will conduct a pilot run in Chennai, Delhi-NCR, and Hyderabad. This will be followed by training to drivers in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Pune. By 2018, Uber wants to generate one million livelihood opportunities under the UberSHAAN scheme.
Uber India will provide Maruti Suzuki with driver leads for the training. Individuals will have to undergo a 30-day training period. Practical and theoretical training will be provided to potential commercial drivers, they will also be assessed pre and post driver training.
