Maruti Suzuki Contemplating Optional Petrol Engine In S-Cross
Maruti Suzuki launched its very first premium crossover in the form of 'S-Cross'. The vehicle is exclusively available through the company's NEXA dealerships across India. Now the Japanese-based automobile manufacturer plans on adding more value to the S-Cross.
Currently, Maruti Suzuki offers the S-Cross only with diesel engine options. An option between a 1.3-litre MJD engine and a 1.6-litre MJD engine is offered to customers. Now the S-Cross could get an optional petrol engine as it is available in international markets as well.
In the international market, the S-Cross is offered with two petrol engine options. Customers in India are most likely to get either the 1.4-litre K-Series petrol engine or the highly acclaimed 1.0-litre BoosterJet petrol engine.
Sales of the S-Cross have not been impressive to date and Maruti Suzuki will put in all efforts to improve it. Recently, the pricing of all S-Cross variants was slashed in India. Previous owners were also refunded a particular amount as a sign of trust and honesty.
The S-Cross is currently priced competitively against its rival Hyundai Creta. Maruti Suzuki is asking Rs. 8.03 lakh for the base variant, while fully loaded crossover costs Rs. 12.03 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi). The inclusion of petrol powered S-Cross will add oomph to the portfolio.
