Confirmed: Maruti Ignis AMT Petrol And Diesel
Maruti Suzuki will add another model to the premium NEXA offerings, the AMT variants of the Ignis for both petrol and diesel has been confirmed.
Maruti Suzuki is on an overdrive offering premium vehicles from its portfolio of cars in India. The much anticipated Maruti Ignis will launch in January 2017 and the AMT for both petrol and diesel models has been confirmed.
Bookings for the Ignis will begin from January 2017. The Ignis was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo held in Delhi and will slot below the Vitara Brezza in Maruti's UV line-up. The Ignis compact SUV will compete against the Mahindra KUV100 and the upcoming Chevrolet Beat Activ.
The India bound Ignis is sold in Japan and will have the same specifications as the Japan model. The Maruti Ignis measures 3,700mm in length, 1,660mm in width and 1,595mm in height.
The Ignis boasts SUV characters like high ground clearance measuring 180mm, roof rails, flared arches, plastic cladding on the side, chrome grille, projector headlamps, and touted to be a feature rich car.
Customers will have the option of customising their Ignis with Maruti's iCreate app. Customers can create and customise the Ignis with a touch of a button and can see the final look of their customised small compact SUV.
The Maruti Ignis will be powered by both the petrol and diesel units. The petrol unit will be the 1.2-litre K12B engine with VVT, while the diesel unit will be a 1.3-litre DDiS engine. Both the engines will be offered with the 5-speed manual and the AMT gearbox.
Maruti will target customers who are born in the late 1980s and early 1990s whom the company calls it as 'Millennials'. A mix of retro and modern features.
When Maruti launches the Ignis, the small compact SUV will be priced in the range of Rs 4.5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh based on variants. The launch of the Ignis is slotted to be on January 13, 2017.
The Maruti Suzuki Ignis was recently crash tested for safety by the Global NCAP and it came out with flying colours by scoring 5 stars with the safety pack.
