Maruti Shifts Baleno Production To Gujarat, In Attempt To Reduce Wait Period
Maruti Suzuki plans on moving production of its Baleno premium hatchback. The Japanese-based manufacturer plans on producing the Baleno at its new facility in Gujarat. The latest Maruti Suzuki manufacturing unit is expected to bring down the waiting period considerably.
The production of Baleno at the Gujarat facility is expected to commence from 2017. The first batch of Balenos from the Gujarat facility will roll out by February 2017. Previously, Maruti Suzuki was producing its premium hatchback at its manufacturing unit in Manesar, Gurgaon.
The Baleno is a global product and is expected to be shipped out from India. Currently, the Indian market has an extended waiting period, which hampers Suzuki's plans of introducing the Baleno in other international markets.
Launch of several new products from Maruti Suzuki's stable has boosted overall sales. This, however, has created a disparity between supply and demand. Every new vehicle from Maruti Suzuki has a long waiting period in the Indian market.
As of now, overall domestic sales has witnessed an excellent growth of up to 11.5 percent. Maruti Suzuki has managed to sell approximately 1.3 million vehicles in the domestic market. Unfortunately, exports have not grown at the same pace, and has recorded only 1.8 percent growth.
