Maruti Alto Diesel Variant To Be Showcased At 2016 Auto Expo
Maruti Suzuki will be showcasing several products at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. Now, the Japanese-based automobile manufacturer will be showcasing its all-new Alto with a diesel engine. The hatchback will also be receiving a mild cosmetic update for 2016.
Under the bonnet will be a 793cc, twin-cylinder DDiS diesel engine. Maruti Suzuki will tune the engine to produce 48bhp and 69Nm of peak torque. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and will deliver a mileage of 27.62 km/l.
There are also possibilities that Maruti Suzuki could provide an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) option to its Alto models. Maruti Suzuki realises that Indian buyers are readily adopting to AMT models. The Celerio and several other models have benefitted and Alto too can boost its own sales.
Recently, Maruti Suzuki introduced driver-side airbags as an option on all variants. Earlier, the Alto 800 and Alto K10 base variants were not offered with airbags even as an option. Maruti Suzuki has made a conscious effort of providing almost all of its models sold in India with optional safety equipment.
