Anand Mahindra Gifts A Different Kind Of Gold To Paralympian Mariyappan Thangavelu
Anand Mahindra is all about appreciating talent. The Olympics has really showcased the Mahindra Chairman's good heart. Anand Mahindra awarded Mahindra Thars to Olympic medalists PV Sindhu and Sakshi Malik, and now, he has announced a Golden Thar to be gifted to Mariyappan Thangavelu.
Mariyappan Thangavelu won gold at the 2016 Paralympics for high jump. The 21-year old from Salem is the first Indian to win gold at the Paralympics since 2004. Mariyappan Thangavelu won gold at the finals of the Men's High Jump T-42 Category.
Anand Mahindra has promised to gift a golden coloured Mahindra Thar to the gold medalist. The decision was announced via twitter, and as before, received an overwhelming response from fans and followers.
Mariyappan Thangavelu was also awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2 crore by the Tamil Nadu government and of that money, the Paralympian gold medalist donated Rs. 30 lakh to the school he studied in. The Tamil Nadu Sports Ministry also announced a cash prize of Rs. 75 lakh in recognition.
