Moto3: Maria Herrera Will Ride AGR Moto3 Machine In 2017

Maria
Herrera
will
race
with
AGR
team
in
the
Moto3
class
for
2017.
She
secured
a
one-year
deal
with
the
team.
This
means
she'll
continue
to
use
KTM
machinery
next
season.
The 20-year-old spent the 2016 season on the KTM Moto3 machine with her own MH6 squad. This year was a difficult one for her, scoring only nine points and sitting low in the championship standings in 29th. Her best finish was 14th in the 2016 campaign.
At the Malaysian GP, she fractured her right collarbone and was unable to attend the last race at Valencia. AGR team will be making its debut in Moto3 in 2017.
Currently, the team runs Marcel Schrotter and Axel Pons in Moto2. For next year, the AGR Moto2 team has signed Aspar MotoGP rider Yonny Hernandez.
Herrera said, "First, I want to thank Karlos Arginano [team boss] for this opportunity. I had quite a lot of trouble this year, as everyone knows, and this chance gives me a lot of motivation.
"It makes me look forward to 2017 because I know I'll have the best in the garage. The atmosphere at the AGR is amazing and we'll do our best to achieve the good results we want."
So next year will the fifth year in succession in Moto3 with female representation on the grid. Ana Carrasco is the another female rider and she entered the championship two years prior to Herrera's full-time debut in 2015.
