Sauber F1 Team promised to announce its driver line-up for 2017 ahead of Abu Dhabi GP. It is now confirmed that one of their seats has been confirmed for Marcus Ericsson. So far, the second driver at Sauber F1 Team has not yet been announced.
Marcus Ericsson will be in his third season with Sauber F1 Team. In total, Ericsson has four years of Formula One experience under his belt. He debuted with Caterham F1 Team during the 2014 Formula One Championship.
Unfortunately, Sauber F1 Team and Marcus Ericsson have experienced a disastrous 2016 season. So far, Ericsson has not managed to earn a single point. They will be expecting their fortune turns around during the 2017 Formula One Championship.
Felipe Nasr is the only driver to score points for Sauber F1 Team during 2016 season. The Brazilian scored two points for his team at his home Grand Prix. It is most likely that Sauber F1 Team will retain Felipe Nasr as well and an announcement is expected soon.
Currently, there are only three vacancies for drivers in the 2017 Formula One Championship. Two seats are vacant at the Manor Racing Team and just one seat is available at Sauber F1 Team. An announcement on all three seats being filled is expected prior to 2016 Abu Dhabi GP.
