Didi Issues Ultimatum To Tata Motors To Remove Singur Plant Sheds
The Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee will issue an ultimatum to Tata Motors to dismantle the decaying Singur plant's shed. If the automaker does not comply, then the government will do so on its own.
As the Apex Court made it clear that the 49 acres in Singur be returned to the farmers, the West Bengal CM has requested Amit Mitra the finance minister in her government to talk to Tata Motors on removing the sheds. The CM also said it does not want to create any misunderstanding with Tata Motors as her government is only complying with the SC directive.
The West Bengal government has already begun dismantling other structures on the land, including that of properties of the West Bengal Industrial Development Board and the state power department.
In a recent verdict by the SC, the land used by Tata Motors to build a manufacturing plant for the production of Nano was directed to be given back to its original owners of the land. Tata Motors had changed the manufacturing plant of the Nano to Gujarat after the farmers had raised objections to the plant in Singur.
