Mahindra To Play Pioneering Role In Driverless Tractor
Mahindra Group is the world's largest tractor producer, the auto major wants to play a pioneering role in building a driverless tractor.
Speaking to the shareholders at the 70th annual general meeting, Chairman and Managing Director of Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra said, "Tractors that operate autonomously could change the future of food productivity."
He also said about the speculation on whether "conventional mobility companies" will survive in a transformed world, he said, "I am not an astrologer and can't provide guarantees on that score, but I did want to emphasize to you all today, that if anyone is preparing feverishly for a disruptive future of mobility, it is Mahindra,"
"It is also an area where paranoia about accidents and collision is virtually non-existent. This is an area where Mahindra, as the largest tractor producer in the world, intends to play a pioneering role,"
On the future of mobility, Mahindra said, that it will be centered around three main topics - shared mobility, the role of renewable energy power led vehicles and autonomous vehicles.
Mahindra's largest consumer base is in India, China, North-America, and has a growing presence in Australia. In India, they are the largest manufacturer in India.
